If you are a health visitor, family support worker, nursery manager, teacher or any other professional working with a family, you can refer a family to Home-Start, as long as you have their consent. We can offer families a home visiting volunteer, family group support or, sometimes, both.
Anybody can receive Home-Start support, as long as they want it and have a child in the household under five years of age.
We support families for a variety of reasons including;
- social isolation,
- struggles with mental health and postnatal depression,
- to help cope with the emotional and physical demands of having several young children
- struggling to cope with their child’s physical illness or disability
- or because they have complex needs that may be impacting on the children
How do I request support for a family?
To make a request for support, you can complete a referral form or simply contact the office. We will aim to contact all families within 3 weeks of receipt of the request to discuss the support they would like.
Please note that Home-Start support is dependent on the availability and suitability of our volunteers. We will be happy to let you know as to the current situation regarding volunteers before you make a referral. You can download our referral form here.
